Over 1,000,000 lbs of Mill Flat Plate

Published on August 18th, 2026

We just brought in a fresh mill run: over 1,000,000 lbs of mill flat plate, cut to size and staged on our floor right now. If your next job needs plate steel, this isn’t something we have to source, it’s sitting here.

Cut three ways, in one shop

Stocking the plate is the easy part. What makes it useful to contractors and fabricators is that we cut it ourselves, in-house, with three different processes depending on what the job calls for.

Flame cutting handles the heavy sections, up to 5″ plate. Laser cutting runs up to 1″ thick, for tight tolerances and a clean edge straight off the machine. Plasma cutting keeps fast-turn jobs moving when you don’t need laser-grade precision. Between the three, we cut just about any part you can draw, not only stock shapes.

Flame cutting: the heavy stuff

Flame cutting works by preheating the steel with a fuel-gas flame to around 1,800°F, then blasting a jet of pure oxygen through it. The oxygen burns the steel and blows the slag clear, and the torch tracks the cut the whole way through. It’s how we get through plate too thick for laser or plasma to touch cleanly.

Once a piece is cut, it gets staged, checked, and loaded out. Here’s a plate coming off the line, ready to load for a customer’s job. Want to see it happen and spin the actual stock size yourself? Check out our Mill Flat Plate quote page.

Road plates: drilled, tapped, non-skid

We also build steel road plates from this same 1″ stock. Each one is drilled and tapped to your bolt pattern, then coated with a non-skid finish for traction on the jobsite or roadway. Below is a load staged and chained down for shipment.

Can you cut custom parts, not just plate?

Yes. Send us your drawing and we’ll cut it on whichever process fits the thickness and tolerance you need.

Do you make steel road plates?

Yes, drilled and tapped to your bolt pattern with a non-skid coating applied for traction on the jobsite or roadway. Ask about sizes and lead time.
